Why does preflight warn about blank credit lines?
A blank credit can be accidental in a batch. The warning asks for human review; it does not require a credit where none is appropriate.
Why this matters
Credit remains distinct from maker and source notes so internal provenance text is not automatically published.
A reviewable sequence
- Confirm the approved public credit for every object.
- Check donor, lender, ownership, privacy, and contractual wording with responsible staff.
- Use deliberate blank wording only if the team wants it visible.
- Review credits again before public release.
