Production answer · source notes

Why keep a source note behind each object label?

A concise internal source note helps a reviewer return to the human-supplied basis for a date, maker, title, or interpretation. It is especially useful when a late correction arrives.

Why this matters

Source notes remain separate from guest-facing proof text. The preflight notices when one is absent but never treats its presence as proof.

A reviewable sequence

  1. Name the internal record, researcher, or review packet used.
  2. Avoid storing unnecessary sensitive personal data.
  3. Update the note when the public claim changes.
  4. Exclude internal notes from shared output unless disclosure is deliberate.
